LocalThe Sir Thomas Freemantle school in Winslow is now awaiting delivery and commissioning of the wellbeing room which will support young people with emotional, psychological and similar needs. Rotary Winslow have given assistance with project planning and a substantial donation to bring the project to fruition.
Every year the Rotary Christmas hampers are well received but this year was far more deeply felt. Each recipient was most grateful to have a little bit of luxury at Christmas time bringing some cheer to a very dark time for some. We provided 28 hampers this year for all age groups rather than just the elderly as in previous years.

NationalWe are also able to support much larger projects using our own funds supported by matching money from Rotary’s own charity, “The Rotary Foundation”. Recently we arranged funding for a local specialist school for autistic children to set up an outreach service to expand their activities to a wider section of the community. This project was carried out in conjunction with our twin Rotary Club of Vizé in Belgium.

International![]() This year, we have supported the largest project ever undertaken by Rotary worldwide to provide surgical equipment for a new “Mercy Ships” vessel, a charity that runs medical ships that carry out life saving surgery in ports along the African coast.
The money will provide a range of sophisticated medical equipment for Decks 3 & 4: the ship’s hospital decks with six operating theatres, three infection isolation rooms, 147 ward beds, six post-operative recovery beds and four intensive care beds. It will also provide training and education for local healthcare workers. You can find out more about the Global Mercy by clicking here. |
